The Intake Examination – No Mercy
After his arrest, Jaron Voss is taken to an isolated medical wing. Every door closes behind him. Only one entry is missing: why is his name in File Zero?
A fictional picture-story dossier about institutional control, a missing record and an examination whose real purpose remains unspoken.
The Corridor Without Windows
The corridor smelled of disinfectant and cold metal. Jaron counted only the doors. When the men beside him slowed down, he understood: this was not a stopover.
The First Signature
A prepared bed was already waiting in the intake room. Nobody asked Jaron whether he understood. The clerk simply ticked one box after another.
The Protocol
The order was clinical and seamless until the nurse turned the clipboard over. For one breath there was no next step. Only a blank line.
The Deviation
For the first time, Jaron saw uncertainty. Not in the officers, but in the nurse whose eyes kept returning to the unmarked line.
File Zero
There were no windows in the treatment room. Then the guard read quietly from the file: File Zero. The nurse looked up. Nobody answered.
No Conclusion
Later, the report would record that the examination had concluded correctly. Where a conclusion should have been, someone had written only two words: To be continued.
The Securing
On the stainless-steel table lay objects that looked like evidence. Jaron recognised none of them, yet each received a number.
The Cross-Check
A second form demanded the same details again. Only the final question was new: who had warned him before they arrived?
The Empty Place
A second chair stood beside the bed. It remained empty, as if the room were waiting for someone absent from the record.
The Question
The voice remained calm, almost kind. That was why the question struck harder: did he remember the name on the back of the photograph?
Under Cold Light
The light made every movement visible. Yet the examination seemed only a pretext for the silence shared by everyone in the room.
The Pause
For twenty-nine seconds, nobody spoke. In that pause, Jaron heard a click behind the door, as if another room were being sealed.
The Found Object
A small object appeared in a tray. The guard exchanged a look with the nurse, as though the thing had finished a sentence.
The Margin Note
At the edge of the form there was no instruction, only a time. It was exactly three minutes in the future.
Change of Shift
With the change of shift, the mood changed. The new officer knew Jaron's name before he looked at the name tag.
The Decision
Nobody spoke the verdict aloud. Still, the clipboard moved from hand to hand until the final pen stopped.
The Mark
Beneath the number stood a mark Jaron knew from no form. The nurse covered it at once with his hand.
No Way Back
When they led him away from the bed, the route was not the same as before. The corridor had one more door.
The Second Entry
Now the blank line was filled. Not with a name, but with an identifier: Zero had begun to write itself.
To Be Continued
Beyond the final door there was no exit. Only the next file, and a light that was already switched on.
The Intake Examination – No Mercy
After his arrest, Jaron Voss is taken into an isolated medical wing. The route appears orderly: doors, forms, neutral voices and a prepared bed. Yet the first entry already suggests that this is not an ordinary intake.
Each station seems to add only another checkmark, but a second story takes shape. An object appears, a question is left unanswered, and the people in the room react to a name Jaron has never heard.
When the phrase File Zero is finally spoken, the meaning changes. The examination is not the end of his arrest; it is the first step into a case whose real rules exist beyond the visible record.
